For a long time, the idea existed only in our imagination, but now Rocket League in VR is finally a reality.

Everyone knows the popular online game with the ball-pushing cars. I’ve often dreamed about how to make a VR version of Rocket League a reality, and the devs at Normal have come up with an answer. They’ve replaced the cars with bow-shooting avatars and still maintained the dynamic gameplay you knew from the breath-taking matches in Rocket League. I’ll now cover all the major points in the review and show you why the game could be a hit. To the bows, ready, go…

And here ist the newest Nock trailer:

The newest trailer of Nock.

Bows and wiggle arms instead of cars

In Nock you take on the role of a wobbly-armed archer who tries to get a ball into the opponent’s goal with well-aimed shots. So quasi soccer with a bow. This happens either in 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 games. If that doesn’t seem exciting enough, the dynamic gameplay will quickly captivate you. With very well thought-out key assignments, you can move across the playing field in no time at all and even newcomers will quickly feel at home. Thanks to a short tutorial at the beginning of the game, you’ll learn all the basics within a few minutes and can jump right into the game. Nock is very beginner-friendly, but also offers a lot of depth to master it. For example, you can stop the ball with your body or use different types of arrows. The better you get, the trickier the game becomes.

You learn all the basic mechanics of the game very quickly, but it’s tough to master them.

Why make it hard when it can be easy?

Nock is not a graphical highlight and it uses game ideas that already exist in other games. But the mixture of these ideas and the fun of playing make Nock a must-have game. For just under 10 Euros you can either compete against bots or together with friends in glorious matches against or with each other. You quickly forget the simple graphics and sink into endless fun. The game also uses a skill-based matchmaking system, which tries to keep all matches fair. Only time will tell how well this works. For me, however, it already gets a thumbs up.

The graphics are kept very simple, yet atmospheric.

Unfortunately a Quest 2 Exclusive Game, but…

Here, unfortunately, comes a big disadvantage for Nock. Not only are PC-VR players left out in the cold, but Quest 1 players are also left out as well. Unfortunately, the game will only be released for Quest 2 for the time being. At least PC-VR players can breathe a sigh of relief, since a PC-VR version is supposed to follow soon. Quest 1 users will still be left empty-handed. But that has become the norm in the meantime. Due to the devs the Quest 1 sadly can’t handle the gamee physics well. A pity, actually. Multiplayer games need a large community of players. That’s why I’m glad that the game will offer crossplay between Quest 2 and the PC VR version. So there should always be enough players online for some exciting matches. The developers still have a lot of big plans for their game and there is already a roadmap where you can have a look at future updates. You can find the link below.

Conclusion: Nock could become a real VR hit

Nock offers a fast-paced gaming experience and breathtaking moments. And it does so for a relatively small price. This is a good mix to attract a large community of players and propel the game into the VR Olympus. Most Quest 2 users should definitely check out the game. It also has lots of potential on the PC and a great future ahead of it due to crossplay with Quest 2. I had a lot of fun during my test and wouldn’t want to miss the game. Also the outlook on the future planned updates gives hope for great things and makes the 10 euros a good investment. A clear game recommendation from me.

What do you think about the game? Feel free to leave a comment.
